Stenographer Grade “C” and Grade “D” Examination
Staff Selection
Commission (SSC) every year hold an
All India Level Examination for recruitment to the post of Stenographer Grade
“C” and Grade “D”. Application form can be submitted either online or offline.
Education Qualifications
:-
12th Standard from a recognized Board or University.
Age Limit :- 18 – 27 years (Relaxations as per Reservation)
Examination Scheme:- Examination is consists of two stages, Written
examination and Skill Test.

2. Skill Test for
Stenography:-
Candidates, who qualify
the written examination, have to appear for the skill test of
Stenography. Skill Test will be of qualifying Nature. The
candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the
speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade “C” and 80 w.p.m. for
the post of Stenographer Grade “D”. The matter will have to be transcribed on
computer only. The transcription time is as follows:-
For Stenographer Grade
“D” : 50 minutes ( English )
65 minutes ( Hindi )
For Stenographer Grade
“C” : 40 minutes ( English )
55 Minutes ( Hindi )
Syllabus :-
A. Reasoning:-Symbolic/Numanalogies, similarities and differences, space
visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment,
decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship
concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number
series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion,
syllogistic reasoning etc. The topics are, Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number
Analogy, Figural Analogy, Semantic Classification, ber Classification,
Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series, Figural Series, Problem
Solving, Word Building, Coding & de-coding, Numerical Operations, symbolic
Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams,
Drawing inferences, Punched hole/pattern-folding & un-folding, Figural
Pattern- folding and completion, Indexing Address matching, Date & city
matching Classification of centre codes/roll numbers, Small & Capital
letters/numbers coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures, Critical
thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence, Other sub-topics if any.
B. General Knowledge:- This Portion
checks the current affairs and daily life aspects of candidates. In this
questions are relating to India and its neighboring countries especially
pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity,
Indian Constitution, scientific Research etc.
C. English Language & comprehension :- Candidates knowledge of English Language and
comprehension like spotting the error and Filling in the Blank and word Power.
